About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, CBP Watch, located in Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • CBP Watch operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, as an agency-wide center for information-sharing, analysis, and operational coordination.
  • Watch Officers are integral to the CBP Watch Operations Division and Communications Center Division, providing CBP operators, analysts, and decision makers with critical, timely information in a multi-domain national security environment.
  • Preparing Immediate Initial Notifications (IINs) and Significant Incident Reports (SIRs) in accordance with CBP Directive 3340-025F and other applicable DHS policies to ensure accurate and standardized reporting of critical incidents, contributing to organizational situational awareness.
  • Acting as a liaison between field operators, agency executives, and national command centers to coordinate real-time incident response and reporting, supporting effective communication and information flow during critical events and advancing CBP's mission priorities.
  • Collecting, validating, and synthesizing operational data from CBP systems and national law enforcement databases to ensure data accuracy and completeness for reporting and analysis, supporting informed decision-making and situational awareness.
  • Assisting in integrating new technologies or systems into CBP Watch operations by ensuring staff are properly trained and protocols are updated, supporting the adoption of innovative tools and techniques that enhance situational awareness and response capabilities.

Requirements
