About the Role

This position is located in any Wage and Hour Division office within the Southeast Region. The Wage and Hour Specialist (Regional Enforcement Coordinator - H-1B/H-2B) leads regional enforcement activities and serves as the principal advisor to Regional and District management on enforcement and compliance matters. The selected candidate must report to a designated District or Field Office within the Southeast Region.

What You'll Do

  • The Wage and Hour Specialist (Regional Enforcement Coordinator - H-1B/H-2B) serves as the principal advisor to Regional and District management on enforcement and compliance matters related to Wage and Hour Division programs, with responsibilities that include: Explaining and presenting potential litigation cases to the Regional Solicitor.
  • Represents the Regional Office in settlement conferences and trials which flow from the referral of cases for litigation.
  • Identifying potential litigation cases and works closely with representatives of the Solicitor's Office in building the most effective case where litigation is involved.
  • Providing technical oversight for national and regional initiatives with responsibility for planning and assigning work, coordinating and monitoring investigative and research activities, and identifying and resolving logistical and technical issues that arise.
  • Providing guidance on case development, investigative techniques, interpretation of statutes and regulations, and the applicability of other federal/state laws, etc.
  • Reviews and evaluates findings and results of individual and team efforts at appropriate interval and upon completion to ensure conclusions and recommendations are technically sound and have met the required objectives.
  • Coordinating program activities with related activities of other Department of Labor, State, and Federal agencies, in regard to contributions to defined benefit plans, concurrent investigations conducted by state or criminal enforcement agencies, etc.
