This position is located in the Visitor Engagement Office, Center for Learning, Literacy & Engagement Division, Chief of Staff Directorate, Office Of The Librarian. The position description number for this position is 470306. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. The incumbent of this position will work a fixed work schedule: 9:00am- 5:00pm Tuesday- Saturday This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.
What You'll Do
- →Serves as a Library of Congress representative to visitors of the Library in person by providing information and responding to inquiries.
- →Communicates with Library visitors and adapts information as needed for diverse visitors.
- →Engage with visitors to provide information or respond to inquiries.
- →Communicate with visitors to reserve passes and register visitors for events.
- →Controls access by collecting passes for access/tours or confirming reservations for events.
- →Staffs the Information Kiosk and/or wayfinding posts to respond to inquiries and provide information.
- →Trains lower grade staff on policies and procedures for visitor engagement and provides mentoring for new staff in public contact.
- →Performs data gathering, tracking, and reporting functions in support of operational planning and leadership decision-making.
- →Maintains physical and electronic records of daily docent tour data, ensuring accurate documentation, organization, and retention within designated shared drives and tracking systems.
- →Compiles, analyzes, and reports programmatic data to leadership for informal updates, strategic planning, and presentation purposes.
- →Conducts exhibition tracking and visitor density analysis to assess object popularity, traffic flow, and engagement trends, providing findings and recommendations to appropriate offices to support exhibit planning, resource allocation, and visitor experience improvements.
- →Conducts guided and specialty tours through various areas of Library of Congress building and specific exhibition areas or to specialized groups and/or individuals.
- →Provides guidance to Volunteer Docents or assists Volunteer Docents with tours and/or inquiries.
- →Schedules and assists Volunteer Docents with daily tours.
