This position manages and operates a complex fleet of motor vehicles tor the facilities Management Service (FMS) at VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS) under the supervision of the Grounds and Transportation Supervisor, Facilities Management. The incumbent is required to work under minimal supervision and resolve problems associated with the work of the office.
What You'll Do
- →Duties encompass, but are not limited to: Coordinates and performs routine tasks related to the operation of a complex fleet of motor vehicles ranging from subcompact sedans and station wagons to heavy trucks, buses, para transit vehicles, and special purpose vehicles.
- →Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that proper maintenance records are kept on all vehicles and pieces of equipment assigned.
- →Incumbent is responsible for the submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual cost and estimated cost reports on vehicles.
- →The incumbent orders new replacement equipment.
- →Eliminates misuse and abuse by vehicle operators and assures maximum utilization and safety by promoting the cooperation of supervisors, operators and documentation of negligence, misuse, or abuse of vehicles.
- →Receives new vehicles and assigns to customer services.
- →Prepares routine correspondence to assist customers and provide information regarding fleet management program policies, procedures and services.
- →Validates transportation-related billing and reimbursements by reviewing them for completeness and accuracy according to standard instructions.
- →Attends meetings and conferences related to fleet management.
- →Coordinates customer service requirements and serves as liaison to ensure needs are met.
- →Provides routine support in documenting efforts related to cost reduction, energy reduction and productivity improvement and enters collected data for management review.
- →Analyzes, gathers and compiles information on fleet operations including financial transactions, services provided, productivity, performance of commercial vendors, customer utilization of assigned vehicles and related areas to achieve control over operations and to assess effectiveness and economy of operations.
- →Reviews vehicle replacement needs and assures proper coordination of requirements with GSA Fleet Managers, and VISN 10 fleet manager in fulfilling fleet goals and data calls.
- →Reviews requirement for additional short-term lease of GSA vehicles in support of peak requirement periods, mobilization, emergency situations, etc.
