About the Role

This National Guard position is for a TRAINING TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2125000 and is part 151 FSS located in SLC, with the Utah Air National Guard. Priority will be given to those who are current military members of the Utah National Guard. The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is CMSgt Julia Dandurand. This vacancy is bid concurrently with Utah AGR Air 26-528.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a TRAINING TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-1702-11, you will: Plans, directs, controls, and oversees all elements of the Education, Training and Distance Learning Programs.
  • Ensures Unit Training Managers (UTMs) and Additional Duty Training Managers (ADTMs) are qualified in, and knowledgeable of their responsibilities.
  • Incumbent supports unit-training programs contributing to mission capability, and administers military training programs for all units serviced by the Force Support Squadron (FSS).
  • Manages programs involving on-the job training (OJT), formal school training, Air Force Institute Advanced Distributed Learning (AFIADL) training, Professional Military Education (PME), and ancillary training.
  • Provides Education and Training advisory services to commanders and staff on all education and training programs.
  • Advises commanders, unit personnel, and training activities on ways to improve their OJT program.
  • Recommends cost-effective processes to meet specialty qualifications, skill level upgrade requirements, and PME applications.
  • Monitors OJT programs for assigned units.
  • Establishes local policies and procedures to provide a uniform and effective internal OJT program.
  • Trains unit training managers (UTMs) and additional duty training managers (ADTMs) to familiarize them with concepts, scope, objectives, and procedures pertinent to OJT, and with regard to the responsibilities of commanders, supervisors, trainers, certifiers, and trainees in the organizations supported.
  • Reviews personnel records and reports to determine training status of assigned personnel.
  • Confers with management and other key operating personnel to discuss training needs, problems and goals.
  • Establishes training objectives through analysis of training reports, unit input, course feedback, and USAF, ANG, and gaining command directives.
  • Inspects activities pertaining to Base Education and Training for compliance with policies and instructions on a periodic basis.

Requirements

  • MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

  • Military Rank: Enlisted E8 Compatible Military Assignments: 3F2X1 Military membership in the Utah National Guard is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Pending analysis, you may be required to complete a new 1-year probationary period when moved to this position IAW CNGBI 1400.25.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire.
  • Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).
  • Potential for Incentive Pay.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the SECRET security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
