About the Role

The Training Instructor of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program provides a broad range of educational services and training to the staff throughout Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (HVAMC) and all associated activities, programs, and related committees including but not limited to the Disruptive Behavior Committee (DBC), Harassment Prevention Committee (HPC), and the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) Program.

What You'll Do

  • Duties Include: Participates in the development and/or revision of course materials, virtual training, and computer-based training modules.
  • Maintains specialized knowledge of PMDB education and training and provides training and re-training of PMDB skills to Hampton VAMC facility staff.
  • Conducts PMDB training classes in conjunction with other facility trainers and will provide coverage, as necessary, to ensure that an adequate number of qualified trainers are available for all classes (within scope of trainer certification).
  • Performs clerical or technical duties associated with developing, revising, maintaining, recording and/or instructing educational courses.
  • Supports with the utilization of scheduling systems for room reservations and employee pre-registration for selected programs, tracking eligibility and course availability to maximize staff access.
  • Assists with implementation and delivery of the facility's recurring PMDB education program.
  • Performs duties involving the testing of staff with responsibility for planning, scheduling, and administering selected measures.
  • Develops and reviews testing procedures, assures all control measures comply with regulations, prepares reports for management, and recommends changes to the testing program when necessary.
  • Coordinates PMDB Train-the-Trainer (TTT) and continuing education activities for certified trainers, including training initiation of training requests, planning, scheduling, instructor recruitment and selection, course facilitation, assessment, and post-training tasks.
  • Facilitate coordination of activities/tasks with secondary instructor(s), site(s), and teleconferencing staff. nation of activities/tasks with secondary instructor(s), site(s), and teleconferencing staff.
  • Maintains, delivers, and retrieves appropriate materials and equipment and/or special needs for specific course delivery.
  • Promotes awareness of and arranges access to a range of face-to-face PMDB and Violence Prevention educational activities.
  • Performs administrative duties for the Workplace Violence Prevention Program, as needed.
  • Performs activities related to development and oversight of manual and/or automated registration and sign-in processes.
