About the Role

This position is located in a Wage and Hour District Office, and carries the organizational title of a Wage and Hour District Director. The purpose of the position is to develop and direct Wage and Hour program operations, which have multi-million dollar budgets, throughout an assigned district office geographical jurisdiction, and often beyond that district office jurisdiction. This position is outside the bargaining unit.

What You'll Do

  • →As a GS-14 Supervisory Wage and Hour Investigator, duties will consist of, but are not limited to the following: Directs and evaluates priorities with investigations and enforcement efforts within the District Office.
  • →Provides guidance, assistance and training to investigative and administrative personnel within the District Office.
  • →Assigns work to subordinate staff making sure that goals are met and priorities are set.
  • →Identifies potential disciplinary actions, performance recognition and training needs for staff.
  • →Liaises with the public for public relations, media information, education and enforcement programs at the District level.
  • →Conducts speeches, seminars, and panel discussions with elected officials, professional employer and/or employee representatives and organizations (attorneys, accountants, union representatives etc.).
  • →Organizes and coordinates program activities within the District Office with other federal, state and local agencies within and outside of the Department of Labor.
  • →Develops and directs assigned Wage and Hour program operations within the District and assigned Field and Area Offices, or other geographical jurisdictions(s).
  • →Oversees legality of issues related to potential litigations cases.
  • →Analyzes and interprets procedures, rules and policies relating to personnel activities including but not limited to hiring, terminating and reassigning of staff.
  • →Exercises supervision over all of the Assistant District Directors.
  • →Formulates and administers the district office budget.
