This position serves as a Supervisory Supply Management Specialist-Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer (ACSCO). They are the supply chain management specialist for a VA Health Care System (VA HCS) and are responsible for the development and integration of a cohesive supply chain operations, including planning and coordination with fiscal, acquisition, clinical and administrative operations.
What You'll Do
- →Conducting logistics audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness and efficiency reviews based on self-developed and nationally developed standards.
- →Participating in the planning of all levels of supply chain activities involved in sourcing, procurement, and logistics management.
- →Serving as a logistics management authority for a VA HCS, a medical facility that includes community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) and other health care activities dispersed over a geographic catchment area.
- →Exercises supply chain management responsibility for the coordination and integration of new technology and/or implementation of new supply/equipment requirements.
- →Performs broad and comprehensive formal studies of benefits, impacts, characteristics, and problems associated with logistics policy.
- →Develops performance measurement/management of all of the aforementioned (including statistical analysis, workload projections, and process management).
- →Conducts cost-benefit analysis for procurements through the total supply chain.
- →Conducts audits, compliance reviews and program effectiveness/efficiency reviews of all logistics activities to ensure they provide satisfactory levels of service and comply with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, directives, and procedures.
- →Oversees all activities that will be involved in providing the needed logistics support, to include capital asset planning, strategic sourcing of commodities through vehicles such as the Medical/Surgical Prime Vendor (MSPV) contract and other contract vehicles.
- →Plans, organizes and assigns work to subordinates engaged in logistics and property management across organizational lines.
- →Develops plans, milestones, and policy for the accomplishment of assigned functions on an immediate and long-range basis. makes changes in work assignments and workflow, and balances workload among positions to increase effectiveness of operations supervised.
- →Performs other related duties as assigned.
