About the Role

The Supervisory Social Worker oversees clinical, consultative, and supervisory services for BHIP social workers across CTVHCS within Social Work Service. The role manages program operations and resources supporting assessment, case management, psychotherapy, and education for Veterans with diverse mental health needs, while coordinating care with leaders across Mental Health service areas.

  • Offers expert consultation on complex cases, ethical issues, and clinical decision-making.
  • Leads performance management, including evaluations, feedback, disciplinary actions, and leave approval.
  • Ensures staff compliance with VHA policies, regulatory standards, and state licensure requirements.
  • Provides orientation, coaching, and field instruction for new social workers and social work graduate students.
  • Conducts program reviews to ensure compliance with clinical standards and governing-body requirements.
  • Delivers direct clinical services, including assessments, case management, psychotherapy, and referrals.
  • Monitors provider workload, manages team priorities, and ensures timely access to care.
  • Resolves staff conflicts, addresses employee concerns, and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Manages program resources staffing, funds, space, and equipment to support high-quality mental health care.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
