About the Role

The Assistant Director of Comprehensive Homeless Center Programs (ADCHCP) Supervisory Social Worker supports the Director in overseeing all departmental operations. The incumbent assists with strategic direction and provides leadership to staff. The ADCHCP offers a diverse continuum of services across multiple levels of care, managed through continuous coordination, liaison, and consultation with internal program managers, Veterans, community partners, and VA Central Office officials.

What You'll Do

  • The ADCHCP Supervisory Social Worker acts as the liaison between the Director CHCP and for the Grant Per Diem (GPO) and Health Care for Homeless Veterans Contract Residential programs (HCHV), overseeing operations, strategic resource allocation; budget, personnel, space, and equipment, and program efficiency.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Chief Social Worker for Mental Health, the incumbent directs staffing and recruitment efforts.
  • The incumbent drives cost-effectiveness by collaborative with and as assigned reviews operational workflows, communication systems, and equipment needs.
  • The incumbent manages appropriate and non-appropriate accounts, authorizing and monitoring expenditures for transitional residences, equipment, and supplies across all VANTHCS CHC programs.
  • The incumbent ensures full compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action initiatives and upholds strict adherence to VA safety policies regarding work-related injuries, environmental health, emergency preparedness, and fire safety.
  • The incumbent provides leadership by training and mentoring staff on safe work practices, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • The incumbent cultivates strategic partnerships with community stakeholders to facilitate seamless continuity of care and support successful service transitions.
  • Leveraging advanced expertise in community engagement, the incumbent serves as a primary liaison for the GPO, HCHV Residential Contract, and other CHC programs.
  • The incumbent ensures that the GPO, HCHV Contract Residential, and, when acting for the Director CHC, the CHC programs comply with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures for the target population and monitors the SAIL measures and medical center performance related to those services.
  • The incumbent develops and maintains treatment and documentation standards for CHCP that meet the expectations and requirements of accreditation organizations such as Joint Commission.
  • The incumbent performs additional and special assignments that are related to program goals, and the needs of the CHC programs.
  • The incumbent identifies high-risk patients and provides crisis intervention services.
  • The incumbent provides collaboration, evaluations, and assists with disposition of high-risk CHCP cases to ensure Veteran access to care and provision of services.
  • Incumbent completes suicide risk screens and documents assessments as required by policy.

Benefits

  • Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
