Serves as the Supervisory Safety Consultant for the Office of Facilities and Property Management Safety Group. Directs daily operations, manages specialized personnel, and designs safety strategies to ensure full compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology Environmental Health and Safety regulations. Acts as senior technical advisor to leadership, manages environmental and construction safety programs, and serves as a Contracting Officer's Representative.
What You'll Do
- →In this position, you will: Supervisory & Team Leadership Lead operations: Directs the Gaithersburg team within the Office of Facilities and Property Management Safety Group.
- →Manage personnel: Supervises technical safety staff and coordinates workloads to maintain safe campus operations.
- →Foster collaboration: Partners with Division Safety Representatives and embedded safety personnel to unify site safety culture.
- →Strategic Planning & Policy Develop strategies: Creates innovative safety mechanisms to continuously improve and modernize workplace safety practices.
- →Ensure compliance: Aligns all facility operations with National Institute of Standards and Technology Environmental Health and Safety regulations.
- →Author policy: Writes organizational safety policies and formal standard operating procedures to govern campus safety.
- →Technical Consultation & Training Advise management: Serves as an expert consultant to agency managers on complex occupational health regulations.
- →Guide employees: Provides clear, technical advice to staff regarding safety practices and operational processes.
- →Deliver training: Develops and conducts specialized safety training sessions to maintain complete workforce readiness.
- →Field Inspections & Hazard Mitigation Investigate accidents: Leads comprehensive mishap investigations to identify root causes and prevent future reoccurrence.
- →Track corrections: Monitors and enforces the swift implementation of mandatory safety corrective action plans.
- →Conduct audits: Performs rigorous field safety inspections across active facility workplaces and heavy construction sites.
- →Program Oversight & Administration Permit construction: Coordinates the formal construction permit approval process for campus facility upgrades.
- →Manage water program: Directs the critical Office of Facilities and Property Management drinking water safety program.
