About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 673 FSS Buckner Fitness Center Pool on JBER, AK. Regular Part-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 20 hours per week to a maximum of 34 hours per week. What You'll Do
- →Assists the Aquatics Director in the planning, organizing, and management of recreational programming and special events in assigned aquatic facility(s).
- →Organizes and publicizes recreational aquatics programming to assure maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants; coordinates with marketing to maximize advertisement of available programs.
- →Performs 1st level supervisory duty for Lifeguard staff assigned to the aquatics program(s).
- →Assists the Aquatics Director with the NAF budget preparation and adherence to ensure the effectiveness and financial health of recreational programs offered.
- →Serves as the primary point of contact and day-to-day supervisor for the Polar Paradise Pool, recreational programming, UNITE, and aquatics special events/pool parties.
- →Assigns, directs and reviews the work of subordinate employees and evaluates work performance - provides initial feedback to staff within 30 days of hire, and midterm/annual appraisals within allotted timeframes established by NAF HRO/Aquatics Director.
- →Recommends disciplinary actions, plans schedules to ensure adequate Lifeguard coverage at assigned facility(s), coordinates work operations, and explains management policies.
- →Works to achieve the objectives of personnel programs/policies and deals effectively with employees on complaints, grievances, and other matters involved in the day-to-day administration of the aquatics program.
- →Provides employees advice and guidance on proper methods/techniques and ensures staff follow all applicable processes and procedures.
- →Works in swimming pool environment where Lifeguards are present to perform lifesaving activity.
- →Ensures water quality testing is performed in accordance with DAFMAN 48-143 and the CDC Model Aquatic Health Code; reports deficiencies to the Aquatics Director and the Fitness Center Director.
- →Inspects pool(s) and equipment to ensure they are operated in a safe manner and as instructed.
- →Ensures that all staff continuously observe the swimming area to ensure the safety of patrons and the prevention of injuries.
- →Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
