About the Role

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is the Nation's risk advisor, working with partners to defend against today's threats and collaborating with industry to build a more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future. What You'll Do

  • Typical work assignments include, but are not limited to: Serving as Chief of the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Security Branch to provide program and personnel direction in the execution of national level programs.
  • Serving as the senior organizational representative in interagency meetings focused on policies and procedures to reduce national risks posed by unmanned aircraft systems.
  • Advancing organizational abilities to meet requirements in law and executive orders focused on restricting airspace over critical infrastructure, including for special event planning.
  • Providing findings and recommendations for solutions to major issues with short and long-term horizons.
  • Overseeing team efforts to plan, coordinate, conduct and evaluate training of national scope and significance in accordance with current policy.
  • Coordinating with staff, including high-ranking elected and appointed officials in CISA and other agencies to identify common priorities, objectives, and activities.
  • Adjusting progress schedules and priorities to meet new requirements or unforeseen situations.
  • Establishing guidelines and performance expectations for staff members.
  • Providing informal feedback and periodically evaluating employee performance.
  • Resolving informal complaints and grievances.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to senior leadership on strategies to reduce risks to critical infrastructure from unmanned aircraft systems.
  • Providing advice and counsel to employees related to work and administrative matters.
  • Formulating plans to improve program policies, practices, methods, and organizational structure.
  • Translating management goals and objectives into effective operations.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Complete the initial online assessment and USA Hire Assessment, if required.

  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation.

  • Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • You will continue to serve the remainder of the one-year probationary period, if required.
  • This position may be designated as essential personnel.
  • Essential personnel must be able to serve during continuity of operation events without regard to declarations of liberal leave or government closures due to weather, protests, and acts of terrorism or lack of funding.
  • Failure to report for or remain in this position may result in disciplinary or adverse action in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations (5 U.S.C. 7501-7533 and 5 CFR Part 752, as applicable).
  • This position has been identified as a drug testing designated position (TDP) for purposes of the CISA's Drug-Free Workplace Program.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to a drug test to screen for illicit/illegal drug use prior to receiving a final offer of employment.
