Supervisory Physical Therapist responsible for leading physical therapy and occupational therapy staff within Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy Services, coordinating daily clinical operations, staffing, training, competencies, performance, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Ensures evidence-based care, supports program improvement, manages workload and coverage, resolves staff concerns, and collaborates with leadership to meet service and VHA goals.
What You'll Do
- →The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Provides direct supervision, leadership, and administrative oversight for physical therapy and occupational therapy staff within Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy Services.
- →Coordinates day-to-day clinical and operational workflow, including staff assignments, workload management, clinical coverage, and weekend care oversight.
- →Ensures proper coordination of therapy care delivery across multiple disciplines, sections, and clinical settings to support quality Veteran health care.
- →Applies evidence-based practices, clinical practice guidelines, and rehabilitation knowledge to guide therapy services and support clinical decision-making.
- →Assigns work to subordinate staff, organizes coverage, reviews completed work, and ensures quality, accuracy, productivity, and safety requirements are met.
- →Evaluates staff performance, completes progress reviews and annual appraisals, contributes to performance standards, and identifies staff training needs.
- →Monitors and evaluates staff competencies, clinical assessments, treatment practices, productivity, quality outcomes, and performance improvement data.
- →Develops, coordinates, and provides orientation, clinical training, competency programs, in-services, and continuing education for therapy staff.
- →Develops local policies, standard operating procedures, treatment-area expectations, and follow-up communications to ensure consistent therapy practice.
- →Ensures compliance with privacy, safety, infection control, occupational health, accreditation, and other regulatory requirements in therapy areas.
- →Collaborates with service leadership on staffing needs, strategic planning, performance measures, workload analysis, special projects, and program improvement initiatives.
- →Participates in interviews, recommends candidates for selection, supports advancement actions, and assists with awards, recognition, and other personnel actions.
- →Resolves staff concerns, addresses interpersonal conflict, supports labor-management processes, and promotes a fair, respectful, and effective work environment.
- →Represents the service in interdepartmental relationships, facility committees, clinical studies, special projects, accreditation preparation, education, and training activities.
