About the Role
This position is located in OCHCO, Position Management & Classification Branch. The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing policy documents, standard operating procedures, and classification appeal decisions and conducting briefings with senior leadership. This candidate will also serve as a subject matter expert on position management and classification while managing multiple projects.
What You'll Do
- →What will I do in this position if hired?
- →In this position, you will oversee FEMA's position management system, classification of positions, and compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act to ensure operational efficiency.
- →Typical assignments include: Overseeing FEMA's position management system, classification of positions, and compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to ensure operational efficiency.
- →Serving as a first-line supervisor responsible for the performance management, employee engagement, accountability, and technical and administrative oversight of subordinates.
- →Preparing, reviewing, and briefing senior leaders on comprehensive recommendations regarding position management, classification, and FLSA issues.
- →Working with subject matter experts to ensure compliance with applicable human capital laws, regulations, and DHS and FEMA policies.
- →Collaborating with the Division Director on the formulation of short- and long-range Division plans, goals, and objectives.

- →Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
- →All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
- →Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
