The Law Enforcement Operations Division is responsible for managing all aspects of LE/FAMS field operations, including budget allocations, personnel staffing levels, policy compliance, and training needs assessment decisions. Each field office is managed by a Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) who provides overall supervision for Federal Air Marshals deployed on domestic and international flights and serving in ground-based assignments.
What You'll Do
- →This is a secondary law enforcement position.
- →Under the authority of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA) (PL 107-71, November 19, 2001), the incumbent functions as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and performs the duties and responsibilities assigned to FAMs.
- →The position serves as a Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) of the San Francisco Field Office.
- →FAMS is a component of Law Enforcement within the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in DHS.
- →FAMS promotes public confidence in our Nation's civil transportation systems through effective risk-based strategic deployment of FAMs in both air and land based mission related assignments in the U.S. and abroad.
- →The FAMS' primary focus is to detect, deter and defeat terrorist or other criminal hostile acts targeting U.S. air carriers, airports, passengers, crew and, when necessary, other transportation modes within the Nation's general transportation systems.
- →Duties include: Providing senior level leadership to a significant and predominately FAM workforce, overseeing the overall planning, direction, and coordination of operations for a FAMS field office.
- →Establishing and maintaining strategic direction, directing major law enforcement activities in the field office, and advising the FAMS Assistant Administrator and Executive Staff on ongoing investigative requirements and methods to improve security in the aviation domain.
- →Serving as a primary advisor and authoritative consultant to the FAMS Assistant Administrator and Executive Staff on field office investigations and related law enforcement issues, planning and directing the management of activities related to criminal investigations.
- →Establishing and maintaining liaison with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, as well as with the airline industry, representing the FAMS Assistant Administrator in field office business matters.
- →Serving as the point of contact for FAMS media and promotion activities.
- →Establishing and communicating to subordinate managers both short and long range program plans, goals, requirements and priorities.
Requirements
- ✓You must possess U.S.
- ✓Citizenship or be a U.S.
- ✓You must have reached the minimum age (18) at the time of application.
- ✓You must complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
- ✓Selective Service registration is required.
- ✓You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
- ✓You must pass Drug screening, subject to random drug tests.
- ✓You must have prior experience in a primary law enforcement position.
- ✓Must sign mobility agreement upon selection.
- ✓This position requires Financial Disclosure.
- ✓Conditions of Employment Employees may be subject to 24-hour on call duty in the event of an emergency.
- ✓This service may require irregular working hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the position description.
- ✓Selectee must be able to relocate to emergency sites with little advance notice and function under intense physical and mental stress.
- ✓This position requires the selectee to carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency as part of conducting law enforcement activities.
