This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Facilities and Property Branch. The incumbent serves as the Assistant Chief, Facilities Management Branch, Archives I site Manager. He/she is responsible for planning and directing comprehensive programs for the operation, repair, maintenance and improvement of the Archives I National Archives Building. .
What You'll Do
- →As a SUPERVISORY FACILITY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, you will: Plan, direct, and supervise, comprehensive programs for the operation, repair, maintenance and improvement of the Archives I Building.
- →Conduct a monitoring and inspection program that will ensure all mechanical systems are operating properly, preventive maintenance programs are effectively being conducted, needed repairs are identified, and repairs are performed quickly and properly with the minimum inconvenience and down time to the program areas.
- →Recommend contracting for repairs and alterations; and develop and evaluate cost estimates, labor resources and material needed by in-house, or contractor support to perform services; and determine which of these costs are fair and reasonable.
- →Be responsible for all aspects of operating and maintaining the Archives I Building.
- →This includes the: HVAC system, steam generation boiler system; electrical power equipment such as transformers, switch gear, circuits and lines; elevator system; janitorial and custodial services; fire alarm and suppression system and general building and grounds maintenance.
Requirements
- ✓The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
- ✓One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
- ✓To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
- ✓A probationary or trial period may be required.
- ✓Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period.
- ✓A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
- ✓Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9.
- ✓Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- ✓File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
- ✓The work is primarily sedentary, although there is some walking, bending, and carrying of moderately heavy objects.
- ✓Considerable time is spent at construction and alteration sites.
