This position serves as the Equal Employment Specialist located within the Director's Office Service at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, Las Vegas NV. The primary purpose of the position is to serves as the principal advisor in the area of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO). This position is only open to Southern Nevada Healthcare Employees Only.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties include: Responsible to the Executive Director for program development, administration, evaluation, and advisory functions.
- →Requires knowledge of Federal EEO regulations and principles, compliance and enforcement skills, administrative, management, and consulting skills, and knowledge of federal personnel administration.
- →Serves as the medical center's spokesperson for all protected groups within the local community.
- →Serves with full authority to plan, organize, implement and evaluate the facility-wide EEO program.
- →Serves as advisor and consultant to the Executive Director, Executive Leadership team, and Health System Specialist to the Executive Director on policy matters relative to the various complex phases and specific mission of the EEO program.
- →Maintains liaison with higher headquarters and other government agencies and facilities.
- →Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the overall EEO program, which in addition to meeting regulatory and statutory requirements, focuses on the solution of individual, institutional, and systemic problems, and eliminates barriers to equality of opportunity for all employees.
- →Conducts studies on the administration of personnel management to identify institutional aid systemic EEO problem.
- →Plans, develops, directs, prepares, and implements the facility-wide Affirmative Employment Program (AEP) for women and minorities in compliance with regulatory requirements and guidance from higher headquarters.
- →Administers the discrimination complaints processing system in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- →Mediates and negotiates settlements and reaches a resolution of complaint matters at the lowest possible levels.
- →Develops and manages an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program, which is any procedure or combination of procedures voluntarily used to resolve issues in controversy without the need to resort to litigation.
