About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Baltimore Field Office, Area Port of Norfolk, Norfolk, VA. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • The position is located within the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations.
  • The position provides clerical support and acts as staff assistant to an office supervisor or senior manager.
  • The purpose of the position is to provide administrative and clerical support to relieve the manager's workload and ensure the smooth operation of the immediate office and an extensive subordinate organization.
  • This position starts at a salary of $62,640.00 (GS-9, Step 1) to $81,436.00 (GS-9, Step 10) Major duties for this position include: Relieving the manager of unnecessary interruptions and demands on his/her time by handling administrative matters and programmatic problems or referring technical matters to the appropriate individual(s).
  • Coordinating a variety of administrative projects within the office to include the development, analysis and modification of internal administrative policies, procedures, and management processes of the office.
  • Explaining nontechnical policies and procedures used in office to managers and staff.
  • Exercising good judgment in scheduling interviews, meetings, and conferences to be attended by the managers.

Requirements
