The Special Assistant position is located in the Immediate Office of the Under Secretary for Management (M). The Special Assistant collaborates with the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff to understand the Under Secretary's perspectives on current situations and plan for upcoming activities. The position requires the ability to interact effectively with high-ranking officials internally and externally as well as peers in various offices and Bureaus within the Department.
What You'll Do
- →Develops plans and strategies for internal integration of day-to-day projects, actions, and activities, as well as long range objectives, covering a broad range of often sensitive and high-profile initiatives of essential importance to the M mission.
- →Serves as point of contact for M management and staff for strategic planning, analysis and collaboration on all program initiatives, daily operations and interactions, and long-range agenda items.
- →Performs special projects and tasks, including assisting in high level negotiations on agreements and programs, as directed by the Chief of Staff.
- →Works closely with the Chief of Staff and other M staff members and helps with other functions.
- →Arranges travel related to assigned portfolio(s) and coordinates with post and M Front Office on logistics, working with the Chief of Staff to identify priority meetings and interlocutors, and collates all necessary meeting materials.
