About the Role
The individual's Clinical duties are assigned to the Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supported Housing of the Homeless Program in the Mental Health Product Service Line of the Minneapolis, Minnesota Veterans Affairs class 1A (High Complexity) Medical Center.
What You'll Do
- →This is an OPEN CONTINOUS ANNOUNCEMENT.
- →We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis; applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis, as long as the vacancies exist.
- →This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
- →You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
- →Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
- →Position requires a basic knowledge of human development and behavior (physical and psychological), and the differential influences of the environment, society, and culture.
- →Position required ability to work with patients and families who are experiencing basic emotional, medical, and social problems utilizing individual, group, and family counseling skills.
- →Work with more complex problems are done under close supervision.
- →With guidance from the social work supervisor, ability to assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members, and to formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the patient's problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and assistance needed.
- →Basic knowledge of psychosocial treatment modalities and under supervision, ability to implement treatment modalities in working with individuals, families, and groups to achieve treatment goals.
- →This requires judgment and skill in utilizing supportive, problem solving, or crisis intervention techniques.
- →Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and representatives of community agencies Has basic knowledge of medical and mental diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures to include acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses/injuries; common medications and their effects/side effects; and basic medical terminology.
- →The incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and will operate gas powered/electric passenger vehicles in order to provide Veteran care in the community.
- →Will drive in all types of weather and may be subjected to driving in all types of traffic.
