About the Role
The clinical and program activities assumed under this position are conducted as part of the Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery Program, working in a Mental Health Intensive Community Model (MHICM) Team under Mental Health Service at the Dayton VA Medical Center. The incumbent will practice independently and, with minimal supervision, provide Mental Health psychosocial rehabilitation interventions to eligible Veterans to meet biological, psychological, social, and environmental needs.

- →VA Careers - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: https://youtube.com/embed/U_xC25QsN0w Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but are not limited, to: Responsible for the assessment, identification, facilitation and referral to appropriate psychiatric, medical, drugs and alcohol and social skills services to those Veterans identified appropriate for the ICMHR program.
- →Independently evaluates the Veteran's mental health capacity, situation, abilities and capabilities, and determines a reasoned conclusion including an assessment of vulnerability and prioritization for admission.
- →Assesses at-risk factors and develops a preliminary plan, involving the Veteran and in some cases family/care-giversand performs an insightful assessment of serious and complicated cases involving severe psychiatric illness which may also include, catastrophic medical condition, dementia, drug addiction, homelessness and other high risks diagnoses.
- →Provides individual, group and family interventions and independent level case management interventions used in the treatment of Veterans with SMI (Serious Mental Illness).
- →As part of a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment, the incumbent interviews the Veteran and sometimes family members/care-givers to establish facts about the Veteran's mental health, other presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the Veterans social functioning and health.
- →Incumbent will function as an independent Social Worker providing clinical interventions to Veterans in the ICMHR program, performing duties to facilitate independent community living by coordinating mental health and community care.
- →NOTE: The incumbent will be required to perform up to 75% of their job duties in the community utilizing a GSA Vehicle.
- →The Social Worker will successfully complete all facility requirements to drive a GSA Vehicle and transport Veterans.
- →This includes all pre-employment physicals.
- →In addition, the incumbent will successfully complete all facility required TMS trainings to drive a GSA Vehicle and transport Veterans.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
