About the Role
This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (HVAMC). The Mental Health Clinic Social Worker provides a full range of mental health clinical services to veterans enrolled in MHC.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical Completes thorough psychosocial assessments as part of the consult process when the Veterans is initially referred to the Mental Health Clinic.
- →Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans in the Mental Health Center and/or their families.
- →Able to independently work with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems.
- →Utilizes assessments in facilitating the Veteran's maximum use of treatment for attainment of the highest level of independence that is possible and practicable.
- →Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participates through collaboration with Veterans and family as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members in the development and implementation of a resident centered treatment plan.
- →Provides Individual and Group Psychotherapy for those cases identified through assessment as potentially benefiting from such services.
- →Uses medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
- →Provides consultation to other treatment team and staff members regarding the psychosocial needs of Veterans and/or their families and the impact of the identified psychosocial problems on the Veteran's health care planning, and compliance with treatment.
- →Administrative Responsible for supporting the mission, policies, and procedures of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the appropriate Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), and the facility.
- →Serve on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility as deemed appropriate by the supervisor and Service Line Chief, Responsible for furthering one's own professional growth through continuing education and for ensuring continuing education appropriate to the area of assignment.
- →Maintain a level of productivity and quality consistent with the complexity of the assignment and consistent with Social Work standards, Joint Commission standards, and facility standards.
- →Perform other related duties as assigned in support of Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) operations Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized.
