About the Role
The Program Manager (Supervisory Social Worker) Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics and Extended Care (ACOS GEC) manages a very large, significantly complex service; directs multiple complex programs across multiple sites/sections within a Level 1 health care system and directly report to the Chief of Staff at the Memphis VAMC.
What You'll Do
- →The incumbent's responsibilities will be to support the highly sensitive functions associated with the Chief of Staff Office.
- →The Social Worker Program Manger provides the below duties, but are not limited to: The position will be housed at the main medical center on Jefferson Avenue, but the incumbent will need to visit staff practicing in their clinical venues at the remote CBOCs.
- →Sets GEC vision, strategy, and goals; develop policy.
- →Represents GEC at facility, VISN, and VACO levels.
- →Aligns GEC operations with VA mission, values, and strategic plan.
- →Oversees systems redesign, peer review, and outcome measurement.
- →Ensures accreditation readiness (TJC, CARF, other review bodies).
- →Responsible for the Program Portfolio: HBPC; Palliative Care; Hospice Care; Geriatric Evaluation & Management (GEM); Geri PACT.
- →Responsible for Exercising the budget and line authority.
- →Develops and manages projections and resource allocation.
- →Supports efficient use of resources across programs.
- →Leads HR actions including hiring, onboarding, performance, and discipline.
- →Supervises multidisciplinary staff.
- →Ensures licensure, training, and continuing.
