Social Worker (General Caregiver Support)

About the Role
The Program of General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS) Social Worker will provide Veteran, caregiver, and staff education on caregiver issues; engage in community outreach; continuous quality-improvement activities and assist with evaluation/consultation of the General Caregiver Program. The incumbent must be a skilled communicator capable of developing effective relationships with Veterans, caregivers, local, state and federal agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations.
What You'll Do
- →Traveling throughout the medical center and the community is required.
- →In carrying out responsibilities it may be necessary for the incumbent to travel into the community where he/she conducts interviews with the Veterans, their families, representative of community health and welfare agencies and law enforcement agencies.
- →The incumbent must possess current, valid driver's license and drive a government vehicle in carrying out professional duties when deemed applicable.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., alternate tour available.
- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
- →Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Requirements

- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
