About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →Treatment/Care planning: Develops individualized service plans and sets achievable treatment/care goals with the Veteran.
- →Includes psychosocial problems in the service plans.
- →Referral to Service Provider: The Social Worker uses VA and community-based resources to provide for the Veteran's needs.
- →Resource development: Updates and maintains a resource file of VA and community-based social service programs.
- →Advocacy: Advocates for the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver, and/or significant other.
- →Educates the Veteran, the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other about methods of self-advocacy and encourage the Veteran, the Veteran's family, caregiver, and/or significant other.to advocate on their own behalf to foster a sense of independence and empowerment.
- →Crisis Intervention: Assesses for crisis intervention as required to assist the Veteran, then connect the Veteran with the appropriate mental health provider for further evaluation, assistance, and intervention.
- →Administrative Responsibilities: The incumbent will enter all Veteran contacts in the electronic record using appropriate formats and templates.
- →Education/Training: Further her/his own professional growth through education, appropriate to the area of assignment and to maintain licensure required for practice of social work within the VA.

- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
