This position is located in the Personnel Vetting Operations Division (PVOD), Security Enterprise Services Directorate, WHS. PVOD manages personnel security for OSD, DA&M, WHS, and clients including the Supreme Court, Administrative Office of U.S. Courts, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Services, Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Defense Legal Services Agency, Capitol Police, Congressional Budget Office, and Congress.
What You'll Do
- →As a Security Assistant, you will: Receive, review, and process a high volume of personnel security clearance requests, utilizing automated systems (e.g., Defense Ready, NP2, USA Staffing) to ensure cases are accurately routed to Security Specialists within strict 1-day turnaround deadlines.
- →Conduct research across multiple automated personnel and investigative databases to update security records, verify clearance data, conduct FBI name checks, and independently resolve minor case discrepancies.
- →Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Division, including managing correspondence, maintaining case files, answering phones, assisting visitors, and tracking the procurement of office supplies and equipment.
- →Draft, format, and finalize a wide variety of official correspondence, reports, and administrative instructions, ensuring strict accuracy in grammar, spelling, and adherence to DoD and OPM policy standards.
- →Assist in streamlining and modernizing security business processes, such as Common Access Card (CAC) issuance, file management, and interagency accreditation, by identifying workflow issues and recommending procedural improvements to management.
