The position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the VA Maryland Healthcare System in Mental Health Clinical Center. The Rehabilitation Technician works within the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (RRTPs). The primary purpose of the position is to performs a variety of supportive technician tasks in assisting physicians and other professional personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties include but are not limited to: Performs a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks in assisting physicians and other professional personnel in a rehabilitation treatment program for Veterans with mental health and/or substance use disorder related diagnoses.
- →Orients the patient and family, where appropriate, to the clinic setting and the therapeutic structure of the program.
- →Plans, organizes, coordinates, updates, and administers the treatment plan for each patient assigned to him/her in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment staff.
- →Develops the treatment plan in accordance with the medical and psychological condition of the patient.
- →Monitors urine toxicology tests and other pertinent tests as assigned.
- →Provides case management including assisting Veterans with their finances, household needs, transportation, etc.
- →The incumbent resolves problems presented by patients or makes appropriate referral to clinical or administrative staff.
- →Conducts on-the-job training to new employees and volunteers in accordance with established procedures and practices.
