This position provides support to the Director of Public Liaison in researching and developing strategies to promote greater visibility and enhance the Office of Public Liaison in DOT mission-driven activities.
What You'll Do
- →As a Public Engagement Specialist, you will: Serve as a liaison between organizations and the transportation industry to research and develop strategies.
- →Promote greater visibility and connection of overall policy objectives to enhance DOT's outreach through collaborative efforts.
- →Integrate and align efforts with DOT's larger mission.
- →Participate in discussions and activities, including interviews, meetings, and academic professional society functions.
- →Conduct reviews and analyses of major transportation policy issues, problems, and proposals covering all modes of transportation.
- →Prepare reports and other materials for transmittal to senior staff within the incumbent's portfolio.
- →Respond to requests for information from the Director of Public Liaison, senior staff, interested Federal, local, and regional government. agencies/offices, and individuals, as required.
- →The Office of the Secretary of Transportation, Office of Public Liaison is seeking a specialist to research, develop and implement strategies that increase visibility and strengthen public engagement in support of Department of Transportation's mission-driven activities.
Requirements

- ✓CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: SELECTIVE SERVICE: Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for the Selective Service.
- ✓BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: This position requires a pre- employment background investigation GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD: This position may involve occasional travel.
- ✓A government contractor-issued travel card may be issued and must be retained for official business only.
- ✓PROBATIONARY PERIOD: You must complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
- ✓TIME-IN-GRADE: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the competitive or excepted service in the executive branch to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
- ✓TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED (FOR THE GS-11 ONLY) if you are substituting education for experience.
- ✓The transcripts need not be official, but must show that you meet the stated education requirements, including specific major or class requirements.
- ✓You must be a U.S.Citizen and eligible for consideration.
- ✓You must meet specialized experience to qualify.
