About the Role

This Full Time Permanent Program Manager/Psychologist serves as an administrative program manager at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System (MVAHCS) Spinal Cord Injury and Disorder Center (SCI/D). The Program Manager serves as the manager for all administrative aspects to the SCI/D and is responsible for administrative oversight of budget, Human Resource management, inpatient/outpatient clinical operations, and other general administrative duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties include, but are not limited to: Administrative Management: The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day SCI/D Center operation, identifying areas requiring attention and recommending course of action to the Center's Director.
  • The incumbent is responsible for developing short and long-range plans, formulating and administrating relevant directives and policies, conducting systematic reviews, orienting/training new staff and assuring documentation and reporting of Center transactions, activities, workload, etc.
  • Serves as the principal administrative advisor and manager for the programs within the SCI/D Center, and as a consultant and resource about SCI/D care, rehabilitation and programs.
  • The incumbent will provide support to the REC ICC as needed and assigned.
  • Evaluates the activities of the SCI/D Center programs with respect to economy/efficiency and provides recommendations in health care planning, organization and management to the Director, SCI/D Center and relevant stakeholders.
  • Incumbent works with leadership and other stakeholders to study patient satisfaction to improve the delivery of health care to our veterans.
  • Incumbent will oversee the work conducted by the SCI/D Center Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC).
  • Duties may require occasional travel.
  • Quality Management/Performance Improvement: The incumbent is responsible for assuring the quality review of records and coordinates these activities with the Performance Improvement (PI) External Peer Review Program (EPRP) department.
  • Actively promotes PI and EPRP in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Incumbent develops and implements SCI/D Center Quality Improvement programs and performs fact-finding reviews when indicated.
  • The incumbent assures that the requirements of both the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and other accrediting bodies affecting the Service are maintained and well-known to the staff.
  • Incumbent is responsible for developing, modifying, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of the objectives and operations of the Center's performance improvement program.
  • Budgeting/Financial Management Work: The incumbent is a Control Point Official for all SCI/D Center control points and is responsible for implementing and maintaining several contractual agreements.
