About the Role

The Psychologist Program Manager (BHIP PM) manages the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) and is directly responsible for the overall administrative, clinical, and programmatic management of the BHIP program and reports directly to the Deputy Chief of the Mental Service in partnership with Chief of Psychology and ultimately to the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health (ACOS MH).

  • Managing all aspects of the program, including comprehensive planning, developing, and implementing programs, policies, and procedures; determining program needs; overseeing the type, quality and quantity of services provided; setting priorities; and establishing short and long-range program goals, initiatives, and direction for the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary (BHIP) Program.
  • Developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing BHIP Program services for the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DC VAMC).
  • Collaborating with Mental Health leadership to assure all BHIP staff adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission standards, State licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations.
  • Providing direct clinical services for a portion of his/her time and functions as a member of the team with clinical privileges in Psychotherapy at the Washington DC VA Medical Center.
  • Providing matrixed program leadership and comprehensive administrative, technical, and clinical supervision for Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) staff, collaborating with discipline-specific supervisors (e.g., Chief of Psychiatry and Social Work) who retain responsibility for formal personnel actions and disciplinary processes.
  • Providing oversight of administrative and programmatic resources for the multidiscipline team delivering specialized, complex, and highly professional mental health services that significantly impact the health care provided to Veterans.
  • Providing clinical consultation to various disciplines and levels of training including PACT Team members, Mental Health Providers, and other members of the VA community.
  • Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
