- →The LPN/LVN also performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, outstanding customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran.
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Perform a wide range of nursing tasks consistent with policies and procedures such as, clinic intake/outtake, administering medication accurately and safely, performing treatments, support of diagnostic services, documentation, teaching, leadership, and environmental of care duties within various Primary Care settings.
- →Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and ability to perform treatments, procedures, and reprocessing of reusable medical equipment (RME) appropriately as assigned to duties.
- →Accurately and thoroughly documents care delivered (various clinical reminders and nursing tasks alike) and patient's response to care to determine if a modification of the patient's care plan is necessary.
- →Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers.
- →Maintains confidentiality of patient / employee information electronically, verbally, and written.
- →Practices and functions safely including; infection control and operation of equipment.
- →Must be proficient in the area of phlebotomy, being able to draw all but the most difficult patients and follow proper procedures for redrawing blood.
- →Provide culturally competent care appropriate to the bio-psychosocial needs of the diverse population served.
- →This knowledge includes an understanding of the changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population.
- →He/she must be able to assess and interpret data relating to the patient's current health status, which will facilitate the delivery of care appropriate to the age specific needs of the adult and geriatric patient.
- →Contributes to developing a plan for all identified competencies.
- →Assists in teaching laboratory and clinic personnel theoretical and practical aspects of phlebotomy, specimen collection and specimen requirements.
