This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: You will serve as a journey level Power Plant Operator at a hydroelectric facility whose principal assignment is operation of the powerhouse. The powerhouse consists of 27 main generators, 2 station service generators, a spillway with 19 gates and an intake structure with 29 gates.
What You'll Do
- →Make routine and non-routine inspections of project areas and equipment.
- →Observe, check, report and/or record required operational data and information to the control room and/or in station records.
- →Operate all power facility equipment to prescribed standards or as directed.
- →Assume local control of stopping, starting, synchronizing, adjusting load and voltage, etc., for units and auxiliary equipment.
- →Operate required switching to isolate or remove equipment from service and test operations for restoration.
- →Prepare clearances under the direction of the Chief Power Plant Operator.
- →Place clearance tags and operate equipment in accordance with project "safe-clearance" procedures.
- →Perform light cleaning, lubrication of equipment, and Operator-related preventative maintenance.
- →Maintain security surveillance of the project.
