About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

- →Learn more The Physician Assistant for primary care areas of responsibility will involve performance of, and documentation of health care delivery for Veterans according to Veteran's Health Administration (VHA) and Durham Primary Care standards.
- →This physician assistant will be fully qualified and certified to function in both a clinical and administrative role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the Durham Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
- →This individual is delegated the authority and responsibility in his/her area of expertise to assume major clinical, consultative, educational, research, and administrative duties and assignments related to Veteran care.
- →May also have same duties but in support of patients assigned to or pending assignment to other providers at work site.
- →Functions of Scope Assigned: Clinical: Primary focus of practice is the independent clinical evaluation of Veterans through their panel of patients including prevention and patient self -management.
- →Comprehensive primary care will be provided to male and female Veterans.
- →Comprehensive primary care includes but is not limited to evaluating patients in an outpatient clinical setting to diagnose and treat acute and or chronic diseases, educating on health promotion and disease prevention and ensuring that health maintenance is up to date.
- →Completes physical examinations, which may be comprehensive, or focused to formulate treatment plans.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
