The Physician Assistant - Mental Health Program Manager assigned as PCMH-I Program Manager serves as the administrative leader of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, doctoral level pharmacists, and Nurse Practitioners and also has primary responsibility for the operation and management of key clinical, training, and administrative programs within the Primary Care setting.
What You'll Do
- →Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Performs duties of Inpatient Mental Health Program Manager role.
- →Demonstrates expertise in diagnosis and treatment of seriously ill, multi symptomatic patients by performance history and/or OPPE.
- →Provides evaluation and management for patients with complex psychiatric conditions, including those with serious mental illness, in any patient setting.
- →Performs suicide risk assessments and complete safety plans for patients at risk of suicide.
- →Initiates and completes depression / suicide screening documentation per VHA and facility guide.
- →Completes risk assessments and treatment plans within established timeframes and in compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures.
- →Collaborates with patients, families, and health care practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate care.
- →Utilizes customer service principles, supports veteran self-determination, and serves as a resource for patients and staff in addressing ethical issues.
- →Demonstrates critical thinking in assessing and managing complex situations.
- →Independently practices as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, utilizing evidenced-based practice guidelines in the delivery of high-quality care.
- →Collaborates with patients, families, and the health care team to develop and implement treatment plans and evaluate health outcomes.
- →Leads the delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, improving outcomes of panel/program.
- →Provides leadership in the application of the nursing process to client care, organizational processes and/or systems, improving outcomes at the program or service level.
- →Contributes to performance improvement initiatives by identifying, analyzing, developing, and implementing processes that improve care at the panel, program, or population level.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
