About the Role
The Lead Physician Assistant is a senior member of the Physician Assistant (PA) staff with proven clinical experience, a thorough understanding of the various functions involved in the care of patients, and the ability to interact effectively with different medical and surgical specialists, health care team members, and administrative staff.
What You'll Do
- →VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
- →Assigned Duties include but are not limited to- Administrative- Providing subject matter knowledge and expertise on issues pertaining to the employment, credentialing, clinical practice, and appropriate utilization of PAs to senior management and staff.
- →Providing clinical and occupationally focused orientation to new PA appointees and mentoring other PA staff members.
- →Identifying PAs educational needs and facilitating availability of necessary training.
- →Working closely with the Chief of Staff and the various Service Chiefs to ensure that collaborating physicians are appropriately appointed and oriented to the role of the physician in PA practice and to ensure appropriate PA utilization.
- →Collaborating with the Chief, Human Resources Management Service or designees to enhance PA recruitment and retention efforts.
- →Working closely with the VISN Lead PA to assist in the collection and reporting of metrics to monitor the effectiveness of PA utilization and quality outcomes and to identify additional areas where utilization of PAs would bring enhanced value to the organization.
- →Attending and participating in staff and committee meetings as assigned by the Chief of Staff including the Clinical Executive Committee and Professional Standards Board.
- →CLINICAL- The Lead PA may be assigned patient care responsibilities in addition to Lead PA duties.
- →Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday Telework: Ad-hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Requirements

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
