The Physical Therapist is assigned to the Physical Therapy Department within Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS) in the Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center network at Charlotte Hall, MD. The incumbent works as a therapist at the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in the Washington DC network.
What You'll Do
- →Interprets findings from examination, diagnostic studies/medical tests and, during evaluation, select appropriate clinical tests and measures, and then integrate findings into the physical therapy plan of care for the full range of patient populations.
- →Establishes a diagnosis within the scope of physical therapy and identify the appropriate intervention to treat and/or refer to another provider for further consultation when needed.
- →Selects appropriate equipment needed to substitute for loss of function or to substitute for limited function of individuals they treat.
- →Demonstrates the teaching skills required to provide education to patients, family members, caregivers, employees, students, and coworkers.
- →Documentation Performs competent written documentation of initial examinations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with medical center and APTA standards in a timely manner.
- →Demonstrates advanced competency in knowledge of electronic documentation and computer skills.
- →Enters consults to Prosthetics service for rehabilitation equipment in accordance with PM&RS and medical center policies.
- →Educates other facility personnel in the scope of PM&RS services and programs involving a variety of health care specialties.
