About the Role

NASA is seeking a dynamic Program Manager to lead and coordinate research and applications programs based on satellite and aircraft-based remote sensing within the Earth Sciences Division. The position involves managing and integrating activities across the Earth Action and Research and Analysis (recently renamed Earth System Science Research) portfolios. This role will focus one of the following national challenges: critical minerals, wildland fires, or agriculture.

What You'll Do

  • Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised.
  • Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee innovative scientific programs focused on remote sensing applications for critical minerals, wildland fires, or agriculture.
  • Lead strategic planning and portfolio alignment between NASA initiatives and interagency efforts to address pressing environmental and societal challenges.
  • Coordinate program activities and investments within Earth System Science Research and Earth Action sections to drive impactful outcomes in Earth science research and applications.
  • Foster partnerships and collaborate with other science-driven programs to drive cross-sectoral impacts.
  • Monitor program progress, budgets, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with NASA guidelines and alignment with larger agency goals.
  • Communicate program goals and results to leadership, external stakeholders, and the scientific community.
  • Promote engagement with academia, industry, and federal partners to advance research and technology development in Earth sciences.

Requirements

  • If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
  • Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
