You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the RADIOLOGICAL MONITORING DIVISION, RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. ****THIS IS A COMPETITIVE DETAIL TO TRAINING, NOT TO EXCEED ONE YEAR, AT THE CURRENT PAY LEVEL OF THE INCUMBENT. ****
What You'll Do
- →You will conduct continuing radiation control surveillance of activities, personnel, and material in assigned areas within a nuclear vessel or shipyard.
- →You will perform radiological evaluations of various worksites such as industrial work areas, areas aboard ships, and non-industrial work areas.
- →You will verify adequacy of protective clothing and equipment planned for use by various personnel.
- →You will participate in all phases of radiation-related emergencies and incidents under the guidance of the supervisor or a more experienced radiological control technician.
Requirements
- ✓In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify for the GS-05 position with the following education or combination of both education and experience: For GS-07: One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7.
