About the Role
Serves as the Pharmacy ADP Program Manager (ADPAC) responsible for the operation and support of pharmacy automated data processing and information systems across the Fayetteville VA health care system, including the medical center, health care centers, CBOCs, and outpatient dialysis clinic. Coordinates with IT and other services to maintain system functionality, analyze data, provide staff training, support reporting needs, and recommend automation and technology improvements.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as the Pharmacy Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC) responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of pharmacy automated data processing systems including VistA, CPRS, GUI applications, and other pharmacy automation technologies.
- →Coordinates and manages pharmacy automation systems including ScriptPro, Omnicell, Automed, and other automated dispensing or medication management systems, ensuring functionality, integration, and operational efficiency.
- →Acts as the primary liaison between Pharmacy Service, Information Technology (IT), Biomedical Engineering, and Informatics staff to resolve software, hardware, and network issues affecting pharmacy operations.
- →Oversees testing, implementation, and upgrades of VistA, CPRS, and other pharmacy information systems, ensuring minimal disruption to pharmacy operations and compliance with VA standards.
- →Develops, implements, and maintains data collection systems, reports, and automated solutions to support pharmacy workload monitoring, operational analysis, and performance improvement.
- →Serves as the Information Security Coordinator for Pharmacy Service, ensuring compliance with VA information security policies and safeguarding electronic pharmacy data through access controls and security procedures.
- →Maintains familiarity with pharmacy operations and identifies opportunities to improve workflow efficiency through automation and technology.
- →Serves as the first-line troubleshooter for pharmacy software and hardware issues, coordinating with IT and other technical services to ensure timely resolution.
- →Installs, maintains, and monitors Drug Accountability software, ensuring accurate inventory tracking and internal controls for medication management.
- →Coordinates physical inventory reviews and drug accountability audits, investigating discrepancies and reporting findings to pharmacy leadership.
- →Monitors medication stock movement between pharmacy locations to ensure accurate electronic documentation and inventory accountability.
- →Participates in the evaluation and procurement of pharmacy automation and information systems, providing recommendations to pharmacy leadership regarding hardware and software needs.
- →Provides training and orientation to pharmacy staff and other health care personnel on pharmacy information systems including VistA, CPRS, security protocols, and pharmacy automation tools.
- →Develops and delivers annual information security and system training for Pharmacy Service staff.
