This Nursing Assistant (NA) position is located at the West Haven VA Medical Center and supports inpatient Nursing operations (Float Department). The NA is directed by a Registered Nurse and performs clinical procedures, technical procedures, and ancillary services. The NA helps each patient attain optimal physical, physiological, emotional, and social well-being.
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include but are not limited to: Participates in the admission, transfer, and discharge of Veterans.
- →Performs EKGs and other clinical and technical procedures as assigned.
- →Performs activities of daily living with or for Veterans including toileting, feeding, bathing, turning and positioning, etc.
- →Escorts Veterans for procedures, post surgery, and other needs.
- →Closely monitors Veterans who are in need of continuous monitoring for various reasons.
- →Interacts closely with Veterans and their families.
- →Works on multiple units including medical, surgical, intensive care, emergency room, and psychiatric care.
- →Partners with staff to ensure Veteran safety.
- →May be required to provide float coverage to areas of 24/7 operations as needed.
- →Work Schedule: Night shift, rotating weekends and holidays.
- →Schedules may be adjusted to support facility needs.
- →Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Requirements

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
