The Department of Veterans Affairs - Central Texas Health Care System is located in Temple, Texas, which is centrally located between Austin and Dallas. It is one of the VA's largest integrated health care systems with facilities in Austin, Brownwood, Cedar Park, Palestine, Bryan-College Station and Waco. Texas has no State Income Tax.
What You'll Do
- →The Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. 1.
- →Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment. 2.
- →Engages patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination. 3.
- →Knowledgeable of ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and follows established policies of the practice setting, VA, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. 4.
- →Aware of high reliability principles to deliver consistent care and improve patient outcomes.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
