About the Role
The Fayetteville VAMC is recruiting for a full-time Nurse Practitioner in the Women's Health Service, located at the Cumberland County VA Clinic. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The Nurse Practitioner (Referral Care Initiative-Care In The Community) is responsible to ensure care is coordinated and authorized by clinical and administrative personnel, assuring the smooth and deliberate hand-off between VA and outside vendors.
What You'll Do
- →The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients.
- →Major duties include but are not limited to: Demonstrated clinical competencies in such areas as gender-specific care, cultural assessment, and health education.
- →Ability to review patents both clinical and administratively to determine eligibility for non-VA care services.
- →Assists in the coordination of care with outside providers using knowledge of the resources and specialty care available at the VA.
- →Provides guidance to all staff assigned to non-VA care services.
- →Serves in management of all non-VA care consults and requests for additional services as directed.
- →Review and interpret any additional ordered tests and secondary authorization requests (SARs).
- →Consult review, triage, and completion of electronic consults (e-consults).
- →Communicate a plan with the Veteran and/or caregiver and the referring PACT.
- →Assists in the training of staff and other stakeholders in the use of non-VA care.
- →Facilitates ongoing communication between non-VA care staff and leadership to evaluate data and review workload demands.
- →Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
- →Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
- →Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
