About the Role
The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner- Palliative Care. The NP practices to provide a full range of services in outpatient/inpatient settings emphasizing quality, timeliness & the advancement of the mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation & management. The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, & certification.
What You'll Do
- →The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position or assigned by their supervisor.
- →The major duties include, but are not limited to: Independently manages or in collaboration with attending physician(s), a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
- →Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
- →Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
- →Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
- →Provide End-Of-Life care and symptom management to all patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
- →Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- →Provider is committed to delivering compassionate, timely and Veteran-centered care through multidisciplinary palliative care teams.
- →These teams support Veterans in VA hospitals, community living centers (CLCs) and even remotely via telehealth services.
- →Provides medical services to veterans on an Outpatient, Inpatient or assigned by the supervisor as needed at the John D Dingell VAMC under GEC service.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
