About the Role
This is a Not to Exceed June 30th, 2027 Intermittent position. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. This vacancy will be filled with either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but not limited to: The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification.
- →Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position.
- →DIMENSIONS OF NURSING PRACTICECLINICAL PRACTICE: Influences and models the delivery of evidence-based health care, demonstrating expertise in the ability to manage a patient panel, population, or program.
- →OUTCOME FOCUS: Leads and implements changes that enhance the quality and timeliness of Veteran/patient care applying research and evidence in the delivery of healthcare for patient populations.
- →Expectations: 1.Leads performance improvement initiatives that improves care or processes. 2.Engages in evidence-based practice and the application of clinical practice guidelines. 3.Implements quality improvement initiatives that lead to outcomes at the panel, population, and/or program.
- →LEADERSHIP: Initiates and leads interdisciplinary teams informed by structured approaches and processes to improve outcomes that positively impact care for a patient panel, population, or program.
- →Work Schedule: To be determined as this is an Intermittent position
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 2-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
