About the Role
The Minimum Data Set (MDS) Nurse has the primary role of coding the nursing assigned sections of the MDS. Community Living Center (CLC) Minimum Data Set (MDS) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care. This is a DETAIL Not to Exceed 3 months.
What You'll Do
- →Duties includes but are not limited to: Plan meetings and reviewing, communicating, and monitoring the residents' care plan.
- →Documentation requirements for accurate MDS data entry.
- →Documenting and taking corrective action of any discrepancies in coding or documentation of RAI/MDS assessments.
- →Coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, resident and family education.
- →Responsible for coding the sections of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI)/MDS Assessment and the Care Area Assessments (CAAs) that are assigned to nursing.
- →Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations.
- →Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
