This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Situational Awareness (OSA). The primary purpose of the Senior Desk Officer (SDO) is to maintain institutional knowledge and train personnel on all required duties. The SDO may also serve as a Technical Standards Officer (TSO) for their team. In that role, the TSO has the authority to establish processes and procedures governing the team's or desk's duties and responsibilities.
What You'll Do
- →As a NOC Senior Desk Officer, GS-0301-13, your typical work assignments may include: While working on a NOC Team will be assigned to support one or more of the four cells, including the Communications Cell, Situational Awareness Cell, Information Sharing and Data Management Cell, or Collaboration and Administrative Coordination Cell.
- →If supporting the Information Sharing and Data Management Cell, collecting, cataloging, analyzing, and disseminating information to various data and information sharing tools, portals, and sites.
- →Must be capable of quickly recognizing critical, time sensitive information, and take immediate action to alert appropriate NOC Watch personnel of breaking events impacting Homeland Security.
- →If supporting the Communications Cell, must be able to think quickly to convey critical information as a moderator for teleconferences or video conferences.
- →If supporting the Situational Awareness Cell, must quickly scan, select, validate, de-conflict and collate disparate event and incident information to write a succinct summary, and use dashboards, common situational awareness tools, and geospatial software to create geospatial graphics and products.
