This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), at the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) in the Nutrition and Food Service (NFS) department. As the Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor the primary responsibilities are to provide nonemergent, safe, reliable transportation of patient food trays, food, and cargo, operate and provide preventive maintenance checks and services for Nutrition and Food Service assigned vehicles.
What You'll Do
- →DUTIES: Perform the driving duties and related services operating various types of and classes of motor vehicles including refrigerated trucks, gasoline, diesel, or electronic powered wheeled vehicles.
- →Responsible for providing metrics to the Assistant Chief, Nutrition and Food Service, Food Management Operations.
- →Responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation of patient food trays and Supplies ensuring only authorized food and supplies are transported to the Medical Center or satellite clinic and dirty food trays in carts are returned to Nutrition and Food Service for sanitation.
- →Ability to operate will have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 26,001 pounds and up to 42,000 pounds and most vehicles are equipped with air brakes.
- →Required to complete such paperwork as trip tickets and records indicating the mileage, amount and type of fuel dispensed.
- →Required to maneuver the vehicle in and out of constricted areas including narrow city streets and congested parking lots which includes maneuvering the truck around sharp corners.
- →Determines which employees will be assigned to various tasks, including the training of new employees.
- →Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.
- →Provides special instruction for new and difficult assignments.
- →Plans work schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for the purpose of ensuring that an even flow and distribution of work is accomplished.
- →Keep the Assistant Chief NFS informed of anticipated vacancies, increases in workloads or other situations that may have impact on delivery or service.

Requirements
