About the Position: Incumbent performs phlebotomy duties for laboratory testing from Medical Treatment Facility inpatients and outpatients. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Verifies proper patient preparation for tests requested by the provider, e.g., fasting, special diet, medications, etc., as well as appropriate sample collection procedure and sample transport requirements.
- →Collects blood samples from inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients using aseptic techniques.
- →Observes the patient for any signs or symptoms of physiological reactions after blood collection and takes appropriate emergency response measures to prevent injury and stabilize the patient.
- →Accurately labels the blood samples.
- →Prepares samples for transportation to off-site testing facilities, if necessary.
- →Alerts supervisor when serious reactions or emergency conditions exist.
