About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Advance in Hire May Be Authorized Advance Leave Accrual Authorized This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
What You'll Do
- →Perform a wide variety of clinical laboratory test procedures within the Microbiology section in the Department of Pathology and Area Laboratory Services (DPALS), a College of American Pathology (CAP) accredited full service laboratory.
- →Perform microbiology tests and examinations using both automated and manual techniques and involving the operation of machines, instruments and equipment common to the microbiology specialization.
- →Receive specimens from Specimen Processing, clinics, wards, Troop Medical Clinics (TMCs), and other DOD facilities.
- →Operation of instruments and equipment used in performing tests and examinations involve function verification checks, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and making fine and delicate adjustments when controls exceed defined tolerance limits.
- →Monitor inventory of consumable supplies, reagents and controls, allowing sufficient lead time to obtain additional supplies prior to exhausting stock.
- →Assist in training newly assigned civilian and military laboratory personnel in the performance of microbiology tasks and the related quality assurance, instrument maintenance and implications of various results.
- →Accept referrals of abnormal or unusual results or procedural observations from lower grade personnel.
